Afghan Hound

The Afghan is one of the oldest hound breeds. It is distinguished by a fine, thick, long, silken coat. The breed acquired its uniqueness in the cold blustery mountains of Afghanistan. The Afghan is defined by a tail with a ring curl at the end.

The Afghan was originally used to hunt both rabbits and gazelles.

This dog has a fickle temperament and may have trouble getting along with small animals.

Genome studies point to this as one of the oldest dog breeds.
